The Red Devils struck late on against Arab Contractors on Tuesday evening, sending them top of Group 1 on goal difference.

Defender Rami Rabia pulled off a sublime finish from the edge of the 18-yard box after an inspired and instinctive one-two with substitute El-Sayed Hamdi, firing the ball into the top left corner.

Al-Ahly is looking to secure a spot in the four-way play-off between the top two teams from Groups 1 and 2 to determine the overall champion.

With one game in hand over Al-Ahly, Smouha can go three points clear at the top of Group 1 with a victory over Dakhlia on Saturday.

Gouna also recorded a 2-1 victory over Raga’a on Tuesday in Group 1, sending the latter to the bottom of the table.

At the time of writing, ten games remained to be played in this week’s round of matches.

Al-Zamalek is seven points behind Group 2 leaders Petrojet with two games in hand and will look to close the gap on the leaders when they play bottom side Al-Minya on Thursday.
