Train blast injures 9

An explosive on a train in Alexandria injured at least nine people on Thursday night. The bomb was detonated on a train on the Abu Qir line as it was arriving to Sidi Gabertrain station, according to state-owned Al-Ahram.

A statement issued by the National Railway Authority indicated among those injured was a child who was left in critical condition.

Governor of Alexandria Tarek Mahdy said that nine had been injured in the blast and that the explosive had been planted between two of the cars of the train.

The Ministry of Interior announced that the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment and that security forces were searching the area and the train for other possible planted devices.
