The armed forces continued its operation against militancy in North Sinai in a series of raids conducted in the volatile peninsula on Monday.
Spokesman for the armed forces, Mohamed Abdel Aziz said on Tuesday that three “terrorists” were killed in “an exchange of fire with security forces”. The raids also resulted in the arrest of six “wanted individuals”.
In addition one car and 16 motorcycles “without license plates exploited by terrorist elements in the implementation of the operations against security forces” were destroyed on Monday.
Tuesday’s announcement follows a similar series of raids that occurred on Sunday that resulted in the killing of 11 “terrorists” and the discovery and destruction of three tunnels in North Sinai.
The raids are part of the armed forces’ ongoing operation to improve the security situation in the Sinai Peninsula following a rise in militancy in the region over the last year.
