The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation arrested the perpetrator of the fire that broke out Saturday in a number of commercial stores in Shubra, Hany Mohamed Abdel Moez.

Moez confessed to starting the fire with a bottle of liquid gasoline as retaliation for the failure of one of the store’s tenants to pay his financial dues.

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb visited the Shubra district Sunday to inspect the aftermath of the fire, check on the safety of the citizens and shop owners and follow-up on the efforts of civil protection to control the fire and provide aid to the store tenants whose properties were damaged.

Mehleb noted that he would meet with the ministers of Social Solidarity and State for Local Development to find a solution for those whose properties were damaged from the fire and discuss methods of helping them.

He pointed out that “unconventional solutions”  will be provided to those whose stores were burned down by the fire.
