Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with the Russian President’s Representative Mikhail Bogdanov where they discussed the importance of supporting the legitimate Libyan government to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people and achieve stability, according to a foreign ministry statement on Saturday.
The officials also discussed several other regional issues, including the Palestinian- Israeli issue and the situations in Syria and Iraq.
Shoukry presented the efforts by the Egyptian government through indirect negotiations in order to maintain peace between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, in addition to the efforts for the reconstruction of Gaza and the importance of the Gaza reconstruction conference that will be held in Cairo on Sunday.
The conference will be attended by representatives from international organisations, ministers of various countries, and the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty, Shoukry discussed with Bogdanov the efforts by the Egyptian government to fight terrorism and extremism in the region and the importance of coordinating an international stance to combat terrorist organisations.
