The Digital Media Forum (DMF) kicked off in Cairo on Monday, after being held in Dubai on the previous three occasions. DMF, which gathered more than 500 information technology and digital media experts from Egypt and the Arab region, is titled “Digital Experience: Challenges and Dynamics”.
Founder and CEO of DMF Najla Semaan said Cairo was chosen for the DMF’s fourth event due to the Egyptian market’s importance in the Arab region. Semaan stated that Egypt has the ability to take advantage of opportunities that will contribute to the growth of the digital media and IT sector.
Semaan added that digital media has gained major importance due to the rapid development of digital technology. This has a major impact on the future of media and the way it reflects on other economic and industrial sectors.
“I hope the DMF remains a fixed annual event in Egypt [which] is considered one of the most promising markets in the digital technology sector, as digital media and new technology have a hand in accelerating developmental plans set by the government, private sector, companies and individuals,” Semaan said in her opening speech.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Gaafar, CEO of Break Through Consultancy, the local partner for DMF in Egypt, said the event supports the sharing of experience and knowledge, which he said is important in the digital media field. Gaafar added this is especially important considering “that the Egyptian market is a significant market that needs to expand and exchange expertise with other international players in light of the increasing attention that digital media is receiving globally.”
The two-day forum gives space to digital media experts to exchange their experiences and skills in branding, advertising, and public participation.
A number of workshops will be held in the forum where specialists and academics will discuss digital marketing opportunities and present successful models in the Arab region and across the world. Key business and marketing figures and representatives of the information communication technology companies are scheduled to take part in the workshops.
