Hilton Hotels has launched the Soap for Hope initiative for October 2014 to celebrate Global Community Day, according to Christian Muhr Vice President of Egypt and Levant Operations.

The company launched the initiative in collaboration with the I The Egyptian foundation to support the local community and develop the environment  and cultural wealth of municipalities.

Muhr believes the initiative presents a positive opportunity to support the local environment in areas in which the company’s hotels are located in Egypt.

Caroline Meledo, Director of Social Responsibility for the Middle East and Europe, said: “Hilton has been working in the field of hospitality for 100 years, and has a powerful strategy to maximise its presence in local communities through supporting training programmes and cultural development.”

I The Egyptian Foundation Chairman Adly Iskandar added: “Social responsibility is a very important aspect of private sector aid in supporting poor families and personal development in poor areas.”

Iskandar describes the cooperation between I The Egyptian Foundation and Hilton as a fruitful one helping in the fight against poverty in Egypt and providing job opportunities and income.

Muhr believes Egypt’s tourism sector is capable of achieving a recovery in the near future, especially in light of improved indicators that have begun to arise since the second half of this year.

Hilton Hotels and Resorts employees 155,000 individuals in 4200 hotels worldwide, according to Muhr.
