A report issued in November by the Ministry of Communications showed that internet usage grew by 3.9% for August 2014 to reach a total of 46.2 million users.
This represents a rise up from 44.5 million users in July. Internet penetration increased1.9% to reach a total of 54.1% internet users in Egypt at the end of August 2014. The percentage of families with access to internet reached 55.6%.
The report also showed growth in internet access via mobile phones with 7.2% in August over July, with the total number of mobile internet users reached 20.2 million. USB internet users grew at a rate of 4.7% bringing the total 3.8 million users in July to 4.02 million users at the end of August.
ADSL subscribers grew slightly by 1.3% to bring the total number of ADSL users to 2.9 million, up from 2.8 million users last July.
