Two military men were killed and one was injured while on duty in North Sinai’s Al-Arish after a homemade bomb exploded near them on Thursday, according to a military statement.
The statement added that the military sent its condolences to the families of the two soldiers.
“The likes of these cowardly terrorist operations will only increase heroes with determination and insistence to root out the despicable terrorist elements from the blessed land of Egypt,” the statement read.
Militant attacks killed at least 30 soldiers in North Sinai last October, after which the military declared a state of emergency along the border of Northern Sinai and Gaza.
The military razed over 800 homes to build a buffer zone along the border.
