Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mohamed Orabi called on the Arab and GCC business community to sponsor a preliminary conference entitled “Egypt is the linking line” (Misr Bab Al-Wasl).

The conference is to give support to the Egyptian economy and highlight the Economic Summit in March this year.

Orabi added that this sponsorship confirms their eagerness to attend, whether on the official or personal level and send a global message of their support for Egypt in its war against terrorism.

Orabi stressed that immediately after the Friday terrorist attack in Rafah, he met with economists to discuss the threat of terrorism, which aims to destabilise the state, security and thwart the Economic Summit.

In a Saturday press conference organised by the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, Orabi added that he called on the Egyptian and Kuwaiti prime ministers to sponsor conference. This occurred on the occasion of Mehleb’s visit to Kuwait on Sunday.

Orabi handed over Mehleb’s agenda for the proposed conference, hoping to discuss the possibility of holding the conference with the participation of Kuwaiti political leadership. The conference is scheduled for the last week of February to match the occasion of Kuwait celebrations of national day.

The proposed conference technical advisor, Youmn El-Hamaki, explained that the conference was proposed to be held over two days in accordance with the agenda that was presented to Mehleb. The conference will discuss and present investment opportunities to be presented in March and open community-based discussion with the GCC business community. It is also set to survey their opinions, especially in relation to the Investment Law.
