Explosion in Alexandria kills one

An improvised explosive device (IED) in Alexandria killed one and injured two others on Tuesday. The explosion took place near Mabarret Al-Asafra hospital, west Alexandria.

According to state media, 26-year-old Ashraf Abdel-Aziz died several hours after the incident in the Alexandria University hospital.

Egypt has witnessed an escalation of bombings since the fourth anniversary of the 25 January revolution.

Another bomb went off on Tuesday, also in west Alexandria, close to a gas station but with no injuries reported.

Two bombs were dismantled in Cairo Airport, also Tuesday.
