Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour condemned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and State Information Service (SIS) performance regarding the killing of Egyptians in Libya.
Abdel Nour said in a press conference held Monday by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb that the Foreign Ministry and SIS should have dealt better with the issue of the kidnapped Egyptians. The abductees were all later killed by “Islamic State” in Libya.
“Islamic State” claimed the abductions of the Coptic Egyptians at the beginning of the year, with the 21 kidnapped on separate incidents. The group released a video Sunday showcasing the alleged beheadings of the 21 Egyptians kidnapped.
“SIS is a true failure while dealing with the conspiracies against Egypt,” Abdel Nour said in the conference.
He added that Foreign Ministry did not fully live up to its role since the popular uprising in June 2013 that was followed by the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood-backed government.
