The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) will extend working hours at 68 branches until 5pm between 22-31 March and 26-30 April to collect tax e-payments, according to an NBE press statement Thursday.
These branches include 33 branches throughout Greater Cairo, 12 branches in Alexandria, nine branches in Lower Egypt and five in Upper Egypt, in addition to nine branches around the Suez Canal, Sinai and the Red Sea.
“The NBE supports the Egyptian Tax Authority in collection of dues during peak periods of submitting tax returns in March and April every year through e-payment system,” statement read.
The NBE has applied the tax e-payment system in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance and E-finance Company. It will provide collection of tax and customs online throughout the year in all of its 333 branches.
The bank issued directives to all branches to follow the instructions in receiving tax receipts from financiers or from delegates whatever their value. The bank stressed that the process of receiving should be accurate according to the recorded data in order to ensure the safety of the e-collection process.
