Twenty-five to 30 Italian companies from several sectors are participating in Egypt’s Economic Summit, Massimiliano Fachini, a member of the Italian delegation, confirmed to the Daily News Egypt.
He added that the sectors represented include energy, electricity, manufacturing, cement, construction, finance and services, in statements on the sidelines of the summit in Sharm El-Shaikh.
Discussions have been ongoing between the government and a number of Italian companies on projects in the sectors of energy, fertilisers, and petrochemicals, as well as oil and gas. Fachini however refused to reveal the names of the concerned companies.
“If everything goes well, agreements that are in the final stages between the companies and the government might be reached in the next three days, and some contracts could be signed during the conference,” Fachini said.
If the agreements are signed, Italy will invest several hundreds of millions of euros in Egypt in the upcoming period, Fachini added. He did not, however, give further information concerning the deals and the exact amounts that could be invested.
