Ministry of Communications to launch 2 new IT projects

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology offered a tender to supply devices for the electronic document-archiving system for the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC). According to the ministry, the financial and technical bids will be viewed on 22 March.

The ministry also offered a tender to supply the devices necessary for implementing a remote therapy project, and the bids will be viewed on 26 March.

The project includes the supply and operation of 12 therapeutic units in Cairo, Fayoum and Luxor. Through the project, patients will receive medical check-ups via an electronic terminal unit.

The ministry has witnessed sudden changes under the new communications minister, Khaled Negm, after minister Atef Helmy was removed from the post. Negm, who is also Chairman of Egypt Post, and his ministry offered three mega projects during “Egypt the Future” Economic Summit.

The construction of three smart villages was proposed, as well as the mechanisation of the commercial registry and the manufacturing of 30m smart metres for the electricity sector. Cooperation agreements were also signed by the ministry with a number of investors for two projects, with Chinese Huawei to manufacture 30m smart metres, as well as an agreement with Dallah Albaraka Holding Co Chairman Sheikh Saleh Kamel to participate in the mechanisation of the commercial registry project with investments worth EGP 1bn.
