One more military cadet died of injuries sustained from a bombing in Kafr El-Sheikh, according to Military Spokesperson Mohamed Samir.

The number of injuries rose to six after an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a vehicle carrying army cadets near to Kafr El-Sheikh Stadium last Wednesday.

Despite the Interior Ministry’s Wednesday announcement that terrorist attacks in Egypt have declined to 65% less “than before”, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that similar incidents targeting security personnel have “increased”.

The president also said during a Friday speech that such acts prove that militants are “bankrupt”.

Explosions have been frequent since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. Military personnel have been targeted across Egyptian governorates, with the attacks mostly recurring in North Sinai.
