Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) exploded in the Northern Cairo neighborhood of Helmeyet El-Zeitoun, leaving one civilian injured, a Ministry of Interior spokesperson said.
State-owned newspaper Al-Ahram reported that one man was killed, while the MOI spokesperson stated that he was unsure and that the injured man may have died in hospital.
The spokesperson added that police found a third bomb after evacuating and searching the area.
The use of small IEDs has become a common occurrence, as small explosions occur weekly in Cairo and across different governorates in Egypt.
Often, the explosions target police stations and sites heavy with a security presence, but they also target roads, electricity units, and telecommunications stores.
