European passenger car sales in Egypt at EGP 1.1bn in first 2 months 2015

A report by the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC) stated that European passenger car sales in February amounted to EGP 1.1bn in the first two months of 2015. The total passenger car sales in Egypt in this period made up to EGP 5bn.

5,412 European cars were sold, out of the total number of 32,000 cars sold in the Egyptian market. The European automotive market had a 16.8% share of the passenger cars market in Egypt.

Skoda Octavia marked the most sold European car in Egypt, with sales at EGP 297m during January and February of 2015. The number of cars sold was 1,566 cars, exceeding the Peugeot 301’s sales, the car with the highest sales among European cars last year. However, this year the Peugeot 301 came in 11th place, with 133 cars sold.

On the other hand, the Renault Fluence’s sales were at EGP 105m in the same period, taking second place with 623 sold cars, while the Renault Duster came in third place with revenues at EGP 64m and 440 sold cars.
