Polaroid is preparing to supply a number of educational tablets running Windows operating system to the Ministry of Education, according to Dr Hisham Abdul Ghaffar, Polaroid MENA Regional Sales Director.

The project comes as part of the Ministry’s project supplying school students with technological educational devices.  Abdul Ghaffar revealed to Daily News Egypt that the company is negotiating with mobile phone operators in the Egyptian Market to partner with one of them for the distribution of the company’s tablets.

He added that the company is currently preparing to launch its newest product in the Egyptian market, a small 3X4 photo printer that can be linked to all smart phones in addition to the Polaroid smart camera. The company is currently negotiating with one of the mobile phone companies in Egypt to distribute its product through it, expecting the distribution during June.

Last December, Polaroid launched a smart instant camera that runs on the Android OS system. It supports sharing the photos on social networks or directly printing them like old instant cameras.

The camera is called Polaroid Socialmatic, and is available for pre-order through Amazon for $299. The camera has a sensitive 14megapixel sensor, a front camera of 2 megapixels, a 4.5inch screen, and thanks to its Android OS, users may install social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and they may directly share the photos they take.
