In 2004, ABB spent EGP 503,000 in CSR activities and plans to triplethis amount for educational CSR activities in 2015, according to Country Communications Manager for Egypt, Central & North Africa Rubi Rakha.
Rakha added the activities for 2015 include renewable energy, community development and energy saving awareness, through campaigns targeting schools students.
“Our activities seek for sustainability not only charity,” said Rakha. “In 2013-2014, the company supplied water to 130 families in Khorshid village in Beni Suef and refurbished the nursery building of Elkamal School in Cairo.”
ABB gave monetary contributions to build a bridge in 10th of Ramadan City and provided governmental universities with laboratories.
One of ABB’s main CSR activities is educational scholarships for engineering students of governmental universities in cooperation with Jurgan Dormann Foundation, besides summer training for the universities students, according to Rakha.
ABB has some charity activities such as providing incubators to Abo El-Riesh hospital and supporting El-Deweiqa rural areas.
