Designer Sarai showcased her collection in the fourth edition of Cairo’s Fashion Festival, among designers who enjoy an outgoing and creative spirit.
Sarai’s dresses were widely admired by the audience, taking them back to the Golden Age of Egyptian and international cinema in the 1950s and the ‘60s. The dresses were simple, fine and feminine, with a modern touch that renewed the look and spirit of the design, conjuring up the spirit of the elegant taste-makers from Egypt’s heyday, like Faten Hamama and Laila Fawzy, and internationally, recalling the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot.
Sarai studied design at the Italian Fashion Academy at the hands of Shady Mohsen. “I was amazed by the extent of his ability to taste the creative touches and art in the choice of model, design and fabric. The art and science of fashion cannot be separated,” she said.
“I hope my first step in the fashion show world was a success and I still have a long way ahead until I can dream of showing a collection of my own in major fashion houses, but I have already begun to identify the requirements of the Egyptian market and set my target audience and I hope I am successful in the following steps,” she concluded.
