Four army soldiers were killed in a bomb explosion in the area of Taweel Al-Amir in Rafah on the Sinai peninsula.
The soldiers had gone to the area after they received information about the presence of seven explosive devices. They were able to find six of them, however the last one exploded killing four of them.
The incident comes on the same day the Interior and defence ministers visited security forces in Sinai.
Another bomb explosion killed at least three civilians on Wednesday morning. It was a road-side bomb aimed at a military vehicle but which hit a civilian car instead.
