Football legend Pele has left Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo after undergoing surgery on the prostate. The hospital issued a statement that Pele is recovering well after removing a part of his enlarged prostate, and the surgery did not reveal any tumours.
This is the second time the 74-year-old former football was admitted to hospital in six months. Pele lives with one kidney only after the other was removed at the end of his football career, after he broke his ribs in a game and injured his right kidney.
Pele had a dialysis last November in the same hospital and left in a few days, but his condition deteriorated and he was in intensive care for five days.
Pele is considered the historical scorer for Brazil national football team with a record of 77 goals in 92 games, and on the local level, he led his team at Santos to the Copa Libertadores title in 1962 and 1963.
He is regarded by most people as the best player of all time, and in Brazil, he is a national champion. In 2013, Pele was awarded the honorary Ballon d’Or by the International Football Federation FIFA.
