Egyptian International Motors (EIM), the agent in Egypt for Kia and Renault, has decided to increase the prices of the two cars in April and May.

All Kia’s model prices increased by over EGP 6,000, while the company started to increase the booking lists and the time of delivery for some Renault cars.

At the beginning of May, the Kia Carens’ price increased by EGP 3,000, and by the same amount in April.

The Kia Cerato is now priced at EGP 142,900. Before the price increase, it was at EGP 136,900 at the end of March, with the car’s price rising by EGP 6,000 in two months. Renault also witnessed a price increase by EGP 3,500 in May and EGP 3,000 in April.

EIM announced several discount offers for a limited period, with the discounts potentially reaching EGP 15,000 on some cars. However, price increases are still taking place.

Daily News Egypt took a tour in Renault and Kia’s showrooms to evaluate the delivery time of some cars, as well as the booking lists. The delivery time for Renault Sandero and Renault Sandero Stepway could reach seven months.

This caused some customers change their minds about buying the car due to the long period of delivery. Customers preferred to wait for the new 2016 model, instead of waiting for the 2015 model to be delivered.

Kia’s sales amounted to more than 4,000 cars in the first quarter (Q1) of 2015. Kia Sportage’s sales were on top of all Kia’s car sales, with 1,200 cars sold.

Renault, on the other hand, sold only 2,692 cars in Q1 of 2015. The Logan Sedan scored 1,076 cars sold in the same period, while the Sandero’s sales were at 417 cars.
