COMESA economic investment forum in Egypt next October

The Ministry of Investment is studying the possibility of holding an economic investment forum for the COMESA in Egypt next October, said Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman.

“1,500 persons are expected to attend the economic forum; between politicians, leaders of economic enterprises, corporations, investors’ associations, and business men from across the African continent,” said Salman in a statement on Wednesday.

Salman met with Heba Salama, Executive Director of the COMESA Regional Investment Agency (RIA), in Egypt, Wednesday morning. The meeting was to discuss means of supporting and developing investment and economic relations between Egypt and the African countries. This came under the Egyptian government’s efforts to enhance economic cooperation with all African countries.

There are current discussions with the Executive Director of the COMESA Regional Investment Agency (RIA) regarding the possibility of establishing a unit at GAFI, Salman said. The unit’s purpose is to provide economic and investment information to African countries and we will start advanced deliberations in this regard soon.

Salama reviewed the possibility of cooperation in the areas of training, raising the efficiency of workers, development of the work environment at GAFI. Salman promised to commence studying such cooperation.

“The Minister of Investment reviewed the importance of integration between Egypt and the African countries. He also asserted the importance of benefiting from investment opportunities available to the different countries through investment and economic exchange beneficial to the peoples of these countries,” the statement read.
