Unknown assailants killed two policemen from the Tourism Police Department and injuring another, after a shooting took place near the Giza Pyramids, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.

The ministry added that the two deceased were officers, while the injured was a conscript.

Since the military ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, attacks on security personnel have been increasing.

“Intensified efforts” are being implemented to capture the assailants, the ministry said.

The frequency of these attacks is at its highest in the restive Sinai Peninsula, followed by Greater Cairo and other governorates.
