Egypt qualifies for FIVB Volleyball World League’s final round

Egypt’s volleyball team qualified for the final round of the FIVB Volleyball World League by defeating Spain in the final match of the second set for Group 8, which also featured Kazakhstan and Venezuela.

Egypt defeated Spain in the first game with a result of 25-14. The team maintained their victory, winning the second game with a result of 25-18.  Spain did not give up and won the third game with 25-19 points. However, Egypt recovered their victory in the fourth round with a result of 25-18, winning the whole match with a final score of 25-18.

As a result, Egypt qualified for the final round of the World League, as the team sits in first place with 16 points, followed by Spain with 14 points. Egypt will play against Montenegro, Slovakia and China in the final round, which will be held next month in Slovakia.

In their first match of the 2015 World League, Egypt lost to Spain in two rounds of the three. In their second match, Egypt won over Kazakhstan, recording in three clean rounds.  In their third match against Venezuela, Egypt achieved its second victory in the three rounds. After the groups’ second round has started, Egypt won over Kazakhstan once more with three rounds. The fifth match for the Egyptian team ended with their victory against Venezuela in three rounds.

This is Egypt’s fifth time participating in the FIVB Volleyball World League, and the first time for it to qualify for the finals. Egypt’s previous best position was 13th place. Their first participation was in 2006, acquiring the last place in the group where they played against Bulgaria, Cuba and South Korea.

Its second participation was in 2007, repeating the same results as before and also leaving the same group with the last position after facing Russia, Cuba and Serbia. In 2008, they failed to improve their previous results, remaining in the last rank and lost against the group that included Poland, China and Japan. In 2009, they failed qualify for the league.

In 2010, Egypt left the league’s final round after they played against Russia, the US, and Finland.
