The Commercial International Bank of Egypt (CIB) has launched a new chain of blood donation campaigns.
The campaign, held for the third consecutive year, aims at urging the banks’ clients, as well as employees, to effectively and positively participate in charity works that target thousands of patients’ lives among different parts of the country.
Five campaigns were held in Cairo. This year and for the first time, the programme has expanded to include six campaigns in the governorates of Damietta, Red Sea, and Suez.
Blood donation campaigns were held over two weeks in some of the bank’s main branches, in cooperation with Takatof Foundation, one of the initiatives of PricewaterhouseCoopers, National Blood Transfusion Services and the Egyptian Blood Bank, which is responsible for collecting blood bags and its free distribution among the different hospitals.
The campaign has managed to obtain more than 400 blood bags. The campaign witnessed a large turnout of volunteers, especially from outside Cairo.
Since these campaigns were launched in 2013, more than 1,000 blood bags were obtained by the CIB. The bank targets to triple the current number of blood donors in Egypt.
