EGP 4.4bn in Japanese car sales in Egypt in first 5 months of 2015

Japanese passenger car sales, for cars assembled in Egypt, reached approximately EGP 4.4bn, over the first five months of this year.

This is of the total passenger car sales in Egypt, which reached approximately EGP 12bn. Thus Egyptian-assembled Japanese cars acquired 36.6% of the market.

A total of 23,400 Japanese cars were also sold out of the market’s total sales, which reached 76,700 cars. This enabled Japanese cars to acquire 30.5% of the passenger cars sold in Egypt.

The New Nissan Sunny was on top of the list of the most sold Japanese cars in Egypt, with sales amounting to EGP 591m, in the period between the start of this year until May, with 4,657 cars sold. The New Nissan Sunny is considered one of the most popular cars in Egypt.

The New Sunny acquired 6% of the passenger car sales in Egypt, as well as 20% of the market share for Japanese automotive sales in Egypt.

Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Lancer‘s sales reached EGP 511m, acquiring the second rank, with 3,481 sold cars. Toyota Corolla was third on the list, with EGP 646m sales and 3,401 sold cars.
