The Interior Ministry announced that 15 people died and six were injured when a small boat sank after colliding with a barge near Warraq island in Giza, in an official statement Wednesday evening.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told state-run Al-Ahram newspaper that the injured were transferred to Nasser Institute hospital and Imbaba general hospital.
The barge captain, who was among the survivors, was arrested by security forces and detained for interrogation.
