The Egyptian Customs Authority has outlined the customs duties on the 2016 models of the Kia Carens and Kia Rio.
The Authority explained that the customs are divided into an EGP 48,000 customs tariff, in addition to a sales tax of approximately EGP 25,200 and development fees of approximately EGP 58,000.
The Kia Carens is an SUV family car, with a motor capacity of 1.6 litres, 132 hp, and 6,300 rpm, and its price ranges from EGP 180,000 to EGP 240,000.
The authority also estimated the total customs fees due on importing the Kia Rio 2016 at 1,400cc, from the GCC is at about EGP 58,000. It explained that these fees are divided into EGP 35,200 as customs tariff, in addition to a sales tax of EGP 18,500, and a development fee of EGP 4,300.
The car has lately been offered through its Egypt agent, the Egyptian International Trading & Agencies (EIT), and it comes in both hatchback and sedan forms. The hatchback comes with either three or five doors, while the sedan is available with four doors, at prices ranging between EGP 129,900 and EGP 166,000.
The new car included some minor modifications in its exterior design, especially in the front, with the grille and bumper. The car will be available in additional colours, including Urban Blue and Digital Yellow. The car’s interior has been updated with more high-density foam, higher-quality materials and revised trim.
