New sanitation projects currently taking place in the Suez Canal governorates of Ismailia, Suez and Port Said were discussed during a meeting between Drinking Water and Sanitation Holding Company Chairman, Ali Hussein, and the heads of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation Devices.
According to Head of the Technical Support Sector Said Hegab, the projects are divided into three axes. The first of those are the fully implemented projects that will start operating in August, which are the ‘Al-Qassassin’ sanitation plant in Ismailia and the first phase of the ‘Genfeh and Kabrit’ sanitation plant in Suez.
The second axis pertains to the fully implemented projects that have technical issues preventing them from entering the operation phase, which are the ‘Authority’ plant in Port Fouad and two other plants in Port Said. It is expected that their problems will be resolved during the first half of September, Hegab added.
Meanwhile, the third axis pertains to projects that have been implemented by 70% and will enter in operation consecutively over the new fiscal year (FY) 2015/2016. These projects include the expansion of many sanitation plants in Suez and Port Fouad, and the expansion of the water plant of West Qantara in Ismailia.
Further, numerous projects are taking place in the Suez Canal governorates to support the development axis projects in many sectors. The Ministry of Housing announced Sunday that two bridges will be implemented, with a total cost of EGP 120m, to facilitate movement to the Suez Canal Development Axis.
The Suez Canal Development Axis project aims at expanding the Suez Canal region’s role as a global, industrial, and logistics centre that is environmentally balanced with an integrated economy. It is also projected to become a global hub due to its logistics and industrial services.
