The government has put a comprehensive plan to develop and activate the performance of El-Nasr Export and Import Company and exploit its available assets in African and Arab countries, according to the Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour.

During a meeting with the Ministries of Investment and International Cooperation Wednesday, Abdel Nour said that the meeting aimed at putting a development plan to take advantage of the 23 El-Nasr Company branches in 21 African and Arab countries.

Abdel Nour added that the plan aims to support Egyptian products and goods in these markets and open new export opportunities for Egyptian companies within the African continent.

Abdel Nour noted that coordination between the ministries of Investment, International Cooperation and El-Nasr Company is underway to prepare a list of all branches and assets of El-Nasr Company to be given to export councils and companies.

The minister explained that export councils and companies could make use of branches and assets in African countries by holding exhibitions for Egyptian products and storing goods and commodities.

Abdel Nour added the branches will be a starting point to revitalise Egyptian exports to Africa.

“Management of the branches will be handed over to an independent specialised department to ensure the its success by taking advantage of international and global experience in this area,” said Abdel Nour.

For his part, Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman said that technical studies are being conducted by specialised consulting companies for the development of El-Nasr Company  and Trade Egypt Company for Import and Export.

Salman added that these companies achieve profit and gains in the current period as a result of several factors, including by changing in the companies’ board members to improve performance and raise efficiency.

The ministers agreed on another meeting later this month to agree on a common action plan to make the best use of the El-Nasr Company’s assets to develop Egyptian trade in the African market.

The meeting was attended by the minister of international cooperation, the minister of investment, Chairman of the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport Mohamed Youssef, and the Chairman of El-Nasr Export and Import Company Amin Yahia.
