In the heart of a spacious and simplistic space, they let out a breath that has been kept in for long. They glance at the glamorous racks and the high sealing; their bodies and minds start to ignite as they head upstairs to a room full of mood boards, books and scraps.

This exuberant group of raw talents is no one but the Fashion Studio’s newest batch of students. After a long break, the educational centre is set to come back this week with two concise summer courses focusing on fashion illustration as well as fashion styling and art direction.

The upper floor of Amuse concept store, located in Zamalek, is finally inhabited by Egypt’s finest mentor, Bosaina El-Kahal, once again.

ElKahal is a fashion entrepreneur and stylist as well as a former singer and actress. More importantly the brilliant instructor is currently one of the most famous names in the area of fashion education in Egypt, especially after studying fashion styling at Instituto Marangoni in London and working on several projects that included Beyonce’s Visual Album, Burberry Prorsum, and The Advocate.

The fashion studio offers a wide range of courses that focus on every aspect of the industry with materials tailored to educate the students about the basic principles while only guiding them through their practical projects. El-Kahal also aims to create a network of talents and professionals to collaborate on future projects that would include today’s students.

The studio frequently collaborates with local professionals to provide the students with an insight on how mega events and projects are done. Throughout the course, students are never asked to memorise content or follow someone else’s techniques. Instead, they are encouraged to implement their own visions.

The styling and art direction course will professionally prepare the students to dive into the local scene with intense knowledge about the role of a fashion stylist, the mood boards, the fashion cycle, the art of fashion composition, trends, and portfolio.

This summer, styling students are expected to take part in a luxury fashion show that would showcase several international brands such as Versace Collection, Armani Jeans, Carolina Herrera, and Burberry. The future stylists will also work hand in hand with many local insiders and influencers on a fashion-forward concept developed by the studio.

Meanwhile, the illustration students will be instructed by local illustrator Hassan Hassan who is famous for his fashionable line of stationary, which features edgy and evident style. The course will focus on basic anatomy, shading and texture, lines, mood boards and mixed media collages, in addition to the fundamentals of the fashion figure.
