Before even making his Bayer Leverkusen debut, Chilean international Charles Aranguiz has been ruled out for several months through injury. The midfielder was hurt during evening training on Thursday.
Bayer Leverkusen’s new signing Charles Aranguiz has been sidelined for several months after tearing the Achillies’ tendon his left leg in training on Thursday evening, the club confirmed on Friday.
Aranguiz, 26, only signed for the Bundesliga club last week from Brazilian club Internacional and featured in the squad that faced Hoffenheim on the opening weekend of the season last weekend. He has yet to make an appearance for the first-team.
“We are all very concerned and suffer with him, of course. Charles was very excited about his first Bundesliga match to come in Hannover on Saturday,” club sporting director Rudi Völler told the club’s website. Voller also confirmed that Aranguiz will undergo an operation on Tuesday in Basel, with specialist, Bernhard Segesser.
“We will do everything to ensure Charles comes back as soon as possible after this injury,” Völler continued.
Reports from German sports magazine “Kicker” claim that Bayer Leverkusen will seek a replacement for their injured signing, in either Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Sebastian Rode from Bayern Munich in a loan deal.
