Ali Abdel Wahab, an officer in the Beni Suef Security Directorate, died Monday as a result of injuries sustained after being shot last week.
Unknown assailants shot Abdel Wahab in Fayoum while he was on his way to work. He was wounded by six bullets and was transported to hospital for medical treatment, where he died.
The Ministry of Interior mourned the dead officer, with Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar ordered all sorts of support to the Abdel Wahab’s family.
Shootings have become common in Egypt since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, mainly targeting police and army officers, as well as state officials.
