A German business delegation began a five-day visit to Egypt on Sunday, to discuss possible bilateral business cooperation and to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries.

The visit, organised by the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry In collaboration with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, will last to 17 September.

The delegation consists of 40 German company representatives, headed by the Chairman of the Committee for Economics and Energy in the German Parliament, Peter Ramsauer.

The agenda includes talks with government officials in Cairo on Monday and meetings with members of the business community and other officials in Alexandria and Ismailia on 15 and 16 September.

The German business delegation visit to Egypt follows President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s visit to Germany in June that was part of his four-day Europe tour.

During his Berlin visit, Al-Sisi signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) regarding boosting cooperation in small-sized projects.

Al-Sisi also participated in a largest joint economic forum that has hosted about 300 German businessmen and 100 Egyptian businessmen, where they discussed methods to improve bilateral business cooperation.

To be noted, Germany is the fifth biggest trading partner for Egypt. The bilateral trade volume of exports and imports reached €4.4bn in 2014, according to figures of the German Embassy in Cairo.
