The development of export, industrial and trade policies, the upgrade of ministry devices, and the activation of trade agreements are the topmost priorities for the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade, according to the new minister Tarek Qabil.

In his first statement since being sworn in, Qabil said that export development comes on top of the ministry’s priorities, by setting urgent solutions to promote trade, open more markets and address the causes that led to the drop in exports.

The minister noted that the development of industrial zones, especially the Suez Canal Axis and Upper Egypt governorates, will be focused on to increase the industrial investment flow and provide thousands of job opportunities.

Other projects at the forefront of the ministry’s priorities include the completion of mega national projects, such as the Golden Triangle, the furniture city in Damietta and the industrial leather project in Alrubiki .

The minister noted the importance of protecting the national industry from illegal practices, enhancing its competitiveness and developing its policies in the short and long-term, in order to improve the quality of Egyptian products.

Qabil said that several meetings will be held in the upcoming days with representatives of various industries, businessmen and export councils to overcome the challenges that hinder the movement of production and the flow of exports.
