The death toll in Mecca stampede Thursday reached 717 in addition to 805 injuries, Saudi civil defence authorities said. The incident took place in Mina as the Hajj pilgrimage is near conclusion.

The death toll has been increasing in the past few hours, as rescue efforts are ongoing. The Egyptian Health Ministry announced that 10 nationals were injured.

Previously, a construction crane crashed partially into the Grand Mosque during a violent rainstorm, killing 107 pilgrims and injuring 238 others.
