NUCA assigns 550 projects to develop new cities

The New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) has announced the successful issuance orders assigning 550 projects, worth EGP 9bn, in new cities from January until the end of August.

Kamal Fahmy, Vice President of NUCA’s City Development Affairs section, said the most important project assigned in the previous eight months was for social housing units for low-income citizens.

The projects include an assignment of 24 buildings in Obour City and 22 buildings covering 440 housing units, Fahmy added. The latter project comes as part of the approval given to 7,140 units offered in the 10th of Ramadan City’s third phase of the social housing project.

In addition to this, 10 buildings will be constructed in the Ebni Betak social housing project in 6th of October City, four of which are already currently under construction. These 10 buildings form part of the 43 social housing buildings that will be constructed in 6th of October City.

Fahmy added that NUCA has assigned six buildings that will include 144 housing units in the social housing project in New Borg Al-Arab area outside Alexandria. This is in addition to the 220 housing units that will be built in 11 buildings in Akhmim in Sohag governorate.

As part of the wider services being built in the new developments, a primary school will be built in the 10th of Ramadan City. A 42-classroom school to be constructed within the New Borg Al-Arab city social housing project, said Fahmy. Besides this, a Secondary School for Girls and a nursery will be built in Sadat City, along with a water station and electricity network in New Assiut City’s industrial zone in the city’s south-eastern expansion​​.

“NUCA has assigned facilitation projects for social housing project in New Minya on an area of 140 acres,” Fahmy added. “This is in addition to assigning facilitation projects in a middle-class housing project in New Sohag”.
