Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of GB Auto, Raouf Ghabbour, revealed he will not compete for the next presidency of the Egyptian Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (EAMA).
“I do not have time to manage the association,” he told Daily News Egypt. The date of opening the door to run for the new elections of the EAMA has not yet been decided.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity had nullified the General Assembly that was held on 25 November 2014, naming the Chairman of Modern Motors Mohamed Abdel Moneim Saudi as head of the association. The ministry’s decision was due to the lack of quorum, which requires the attendance of more than 60% of the 18members of the board.
The Ministry of Solidarity had entrusted Mohamed Hani, a member of the Regional Union of Associations, to take over as Commissioner-General of the EAMA, to follow up on the procedures of opening the door to run for elections, and to head the General Assembly that will choose the association’s president in the next period.
The ministry invalidated three General Assemblies that sought a president for the association over the last three years for the same reason, due to disagreements between automotive industry parties on who will head the EAMA. These agreements led to the resignation of a number of the association’s members.
