Conflict between the Al-Nour Party and the ‘For the Love of Egypt’ electoral list escalated on Tuesday and  complaints were submitted to the  Higher Committee on Media Monitoring by the Salafi party against the list and its prominent members.

Al-Nour Party claimed there are frequent attacks against it, and a breach in electoral advertising regulations in many governorates.

A member of the Supreme Council of Al-Nour Party, Salah Abed Maaboud, said they submitted complaints against “In the Love of Egypt” for breaching advertising regulations. He added that they demanded that the Higher Committee on Media Monitoring follow up well on what the list is doing in governorates in breach of regulations, and exceeding the maximum budget allowed for electoral advertising.

He said in a special statement that the list violated all instructions announced by the Supreme Electoral Commission.

Abed Maaboud said the Al-Nour Party is currently the biggest concern of all other political parties and lists as they are continuously falsely accusing it in all media outlets. He explained that the party is continuing its campaign, describing the attacks as counter-campaigns that seek the Al-Nour Party’s failure.

On his part, Deputy Head of the Salafi Call, Yasser Borhami, said the party submitted complaints against all offenders, and those who violated the regulations of electoral advertising.

He explained that the complaints did not include a specific list or candidate. Borhami said the Al-Nour Party has allocated monitoring committees in all governorates to follow up on all violations by parties and candidates. He added the party will not stay silent in front of its accusers.

Meanwhile, a candidate within the “For the Love of Egypt” electoral list, Tarek El-Khouly, said the Al-Nour Party is trying to justify its failure by submitting a reports against the list and its candidates, stressing that the list does not care about these reports as they do not represent any threat to the list.

He added that the Salafi party no longer has any influence and that the Egyptian people now understand and know very well what happened with the political Islam stream in the past years after the 25 January Revolution.
