Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil begins a visit to Saudi Arabia, Tuesday, in order to participate in the Arab trade ministers’ meetings, which will be held in Riyadh on Wednesday, according to a Tuesday statement.

The meetings will be attended by all Arab trade ministers, the presidents of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Arab League.

The meetings target the coordination of the negotiations regarding the WTO’s work plan after the Bali conference. It will also discuss issues related to the Doha development agenda, which was approved in 2001 during the fourth WTO ministerial conference in Doha.

Moreover, Qabil is expected to hold bilateral meetings with a number of ministers of trade and economy participating in the meetings, including those of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Sudan.

The bilateral meetings aim to discuss aspects of mutual cooperation and to deal with the obstacles facing trade exchange in order to resolve them.

The Egyptian minister will also meet the Chairman of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce.

Qabil said his participation in the meetings comes in the context of Egypt’s keenness to coordinate and unify the Arab stance in the WTO before the 10th ministerial conference, which will be held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
