Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed to Greece Sunday morning to attend the international conference on “Religious and Cultural and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East” in Athens from 18 to 20 October, according to foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Representatives from various countries, including foreign ministers, religious leaders, and Christian leaders, will attend the conference.

The conference aims to develop initiatives to renounce violence and extremism and to promote dialogue among people from different countries.

According to Abu Zeid, Shoukry will discuss the issue of Islamophobia with conference participants, which causes discrimination against people of Middle Eastern origin in European countries.

Shoukry will also discuss the importance of developing relations between Egypt and Greece in various fields, as well as regional issues, including the Syrian crisis, Palestinian conditions, and the situation in Libya.

Shoukry met with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for the Middle East and Africa on Saturday to discuss relations between Egypt and Russia and the Syrian situation.
