Former governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hisham Ramez said he had requested to depart from his position at the CBE and end his tenure three months ago.

Ramez wrote on his personal account on Facebook a statement Wednesday explaining the issue of his resignation, saying his period as governor of the CBE was scheduled to end on 3 February 2017.

Ramez added that the duration of the current Board of Directors ends on 26 November 2016.

Following his meeting with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Ramez posted saying: “I have done my best for my country. I feel relieved and wish all the best for my country and my dear friend Tarek Amer.”
