Seafarers are going on strike in Greece during the first week of November. This will also affect tourists who want to use a ferry. Further strikes could disrupt services in other tourism sectors too.
Dockworkers and sailors plan to strike starting on Monday November 2 at 5 a.m. for 48 hours. This was announced by the Trade Union of Seafarers (PNO) .

The seamen are protesting against the reduction of their pensions, high unemployment, widespread undeclared work and new rules that reduce the number of people in a crew on the ferry, said a statement by the Union.

Public administration institutions such as banks and the post also have announced strikes for mid-November. This too could affect flights, train and ferry services as well as hotels, museums, ancient sites and hospitals.

Tourists travelling by car could get into trouble if gas station employees decide to join the strike.
