President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi ordered to allocate EGP 1bn to raise the efficiency of sewage and agricultural networks in the governorates of Beheira and Alexandria, according to the presidency’s statement Monday.

Al-Sisi went on a morning tour to Alexandria by air and visited the expansion project of East Alexandria waste water treatment station. He went with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the Ministers of Housing and Utilities, Water Resources and Irrigation, and Local Development, the commander of the northern military region, and the Acting Governor of Alexandria.

The station aims to serve the eastern and central area of Alexandria and secondarily treat waste water with a capacity of 800,000 sqm per day.

Al-Sisi ordered to allocate EGP 1bn from the “Tahya Misr” (Long Live Egypt) fund to finance an emergency plan to be implemented by the relevant ministries, in cooperation with the armed forces. They will raise the efficiency of the agricultural and sewage network in the governorates of Beheira and Alexandria, according to the presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef.

The construction work includes cleansing and deepening drains and supplying wastewater plants with pumps and all the necessary equipment, as well as the removal of encroachments on canals and drains, so that all the work will be completed within a period ranging from –seven to 10 days.

Al-Sisi expressed his deep sorrow over the damage of the agricultural areas in both governorates.  He said great damage affected the farmers due to bad weather and asked the public to help them with EGP 2,000 each, according to the relevant rules and the area of the damaged land.

He demanded that the Administrative Control Authority prepare reports with the help of a technical committee consisting of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority and Military Technical College regarding all projects.

This will ensure efficiency, compliance with the standards and specifications, verification of their full implementation, and to achieve the desired goals in normal conditions or in times of crisis.
