Egypt welcomes tourists and ensures their safety and personal security, according to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi who visited Sharm El-Sheikh’s airport Thursday.
Speaking to the press, the president expressed “disappointment regarding the jumping to conclusions” in the ongoing investigation into the Russian plane crash.
“Egypt must face pressure, especially after every achievement. This country will remain stable and with the help of businessmen in boosting the tourism sector, the lights of Sharm El-Sheikh city will never go out,” Al-Sisi said.
Meanwhile, Al-Sisi sent another message to businessmen, in which he stated ‘they cannot be touched and that the legal system of the country is the ultimate base of decisions”, adding that “he would not accept any offences against anyone”.
This comes as Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq ordered the release of business tycoon Salah Diab and his son on Wednesday, with EGP 50,000 bail each, pending investigations into unlicensed possession of weapons, amid the controversial circumstances of their arrest.
Days before Diab’s arrest on Sunday, the prosecution froze his assets last Friday, banning him and his wife from accessing their finances, a measure that also included nearly seven other businessmen and their wives, among them Mokhtar Semeida, head of the Conference Party.
