Egyptian security forces reportedly arrested a young groom, Badr Al-Gamal, during his wedding celebrations in the Al-Mamoura district of Alexandria.
The security forces in Alexendria denied the claim when social media users created the trending hashtag #They_kiddnapped_the_groom with photos of him in the wedding.
The Ministry of Interior however released a statement confirming the arrest of Al-Gamal from his wedding, and said he is a member of the banned Muslim Brotherhood. He is accused of violence against security forces, including shooting at a police station in Al-Asafra district in Alexandria, they reported.
Security agents in plainclothes arrested Al-Gamal when he was on his way to his new home with his bride after leaving the wedding hall, according to his brother.
There were at least 215 cases of forced disappearance across the country during August and September, according to a report by the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms. In first eight months of 2015, 1,250 cases were recorded, while 1,411 cases recorded in the first 10 months. Only 332 of the 1,411 cases’ locations were revealed.
