Police forces arrested Saturday morning perpetrators accused of tossing Molotov cocktails on the entrance of a nightclub in Giza Friday morning.
Sixteen people were killed and 10 were injured in the attack.
The Ministry of Interior said it put together a “search and arrest operation to find the perpetrators, who tried to flee to Suez”. It added that the motorcycle used in the attack was also confiscated by police forces.
The nightclub is in the populated neighbourhood of Agouza. It was attacked Friday morning by two men, Mohamed Ali and Mohamed Abdel Rahman, who were arrested for involvement in the attack, according to a ministry statement. Two other suspected are still at large.
Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Ali, was previously involved in a kidnapping case.
The ministry added: “When confronted with accusations, the men said they torched the club while riding a motorcycle.” It added that both were previously denied entry to the club, and attacked it in retaliation.
Four women were among those killed in the attack, according to the police.
